What is the MEP? |
The MEP is a private, nonprofit organization established to improve the competitiveness and profitability of Utah's manufacturing community.
Why should I use MEP's consulting services? |
There are two significant reasons why companies use the Manufacturing Extension Partnership:
1. Our performance is proactively monitored by the U.S. Department of Commerce, our primary funding source. Within one year after a project is completed, the client will receive a call confirming the project has made a positive impact on the company's bottom line.
2. Our services are affordable because of our partial federal and state support. |
How much do your consultations services cost? |
We work on a contract basis, and pricing is geared to ensure that you receive maximum value for MEP services. Total costs differ depending on the time, materials, and type of capabilities required to complete the project. Regardless of the type of project, our services are affordable because of public funding for manufacturing improvement. |
How is the MEP funded? |
The MEP is funded through federal and state grants as well as through private industry fees. Federal funding is provided by the Department of Commerce through the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST). There are more than 70 other centers like the MEP across the country.

Does MEP offer any free services? |
We provide a variety of business diagnostics and other materials that can help you get a baseline understanding of a current situation or problem. Perhaps our most valuable free service is our Discovery Processİ, where we help companies identify and prioritize their most important strategic improvement opportunities. |
Do I have to be a member to access MEP services? |
No. The only requirement to use MEP services is to be a Utah manufacturer. |
If my company becomes an MEP client, will information be kept confidential? |
By contract, we keep all project and company information confidential. |
